Good News! South East Metro Manila C-6 Expressway Project Begins.

Fresh News: A freeway venture that apparently cuts travel time between Taguig City and the Batasan Complex in Quezon City to just 35 minutes is now being worked by San Miguel Corp. (SMC), a Filipino multinational publicly listed conglomerate holding company.

SMC is also the largest openly listed food, beverage and packaging company in Southeast Asia as well as the Philippines' largest corporation in terms of revenue. Since 2008, SMC has ventured beyond its core businesses, becoming involved in fuel & oil power generation and infrastructure.

This SMC's new project which is formally known as the South East Metro Manila Expressway, is assessed to cost P45 billion and focused for finishing by 2020.

As per the DOTr, the 34-kilometer expressway will connect SMC's Skyway Stage 1 in the Food Terminal Inc. complex in Taguig City to the Batasan complex. In the long run, the freeway will interface with the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) by means of Balagtas.

The DOTr on Monday also said that whenever finished, travel time of drivers from specific cities will be diminished to just 35 minutes.

When completed, travel time of motorists from Bicutan, Taguig to Batasan, Quezon City will be reduced to only 35 minutes,” the DOTr said.

This project, which is a part of the Metro Manila C-6 Expressway venture, will have six lanes, both for hoisted and at-review areas and as per the DOTr, beside decongesting streets in Manila and Quezon City, workers and drivers will have a quick and direct access by South and Southeast, and Metro Manila between city explorers, to leading international and domestic airport terminals,

"Aside from decongesting roads in Manila and Quezon City, particularly major road networks such as EDSA, C-5, Ortigas Avenue, and its extension, [South East Metro Manila Expressway] shall likewise provide commuters and motorists fast and direct access by South and Southeast, as well as Metro Manila inter-city travelers, to major international and domestic airports,” the DOTr mentioned.

Also according to the DOTr, the undertaking has a concession time of 30 years. SMC-drove Citra Intercity Tollways Inc. is the venture concessionaire for the C-6 expressway and that the C-6 expressway project will have a second stage including a 24.28-kilometer freeway that would connect to San Mateo, Rizal and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
