"My Father Won't Stay in Office Beyond His Term" -Sara Duterte

Fresh News: On Wednesday, President's daughter & Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that her father, President Rodrigo Duterte does not have any desire to remain in office past his term, in the midst of theory that his partners are pushing for Charter change to broaden their terms.

This she said in an ambush interview in Koronadal City, that her father who is now 72 years old is actually really excited about resigning and he doesn't need a term expansion for him. According to Mayor Sara, if President Duterte has done everything that he has promised to the country, he would love to retire.

He does not want a term extension for him. In fact pag nagawa na niya yung mga pinromise niya na gagawin niya para sa ating bansa...gusto na niya mag-retire,” Mayor Sara Duterte said

She also said that the President is not an advocate of a no-election scheme since he regards the vote based system that we have in our nation.

The President is not supportive of a no-election scenario because he respects the democracy that we have in our country,” she added.

Davao City Mayor also said that it is best to leave to Congress the substance of the new Constitution that would formulate to shift the type of government to federalism and that the choice to endorse the draft lays on people in general at any rate.

Antayin na lang natin kung ano yung maporma na type of federalism na setup para sa ating bansa and then that will be submitted to a plebiscite,” the Mayor said.

Then she added that whatever wins, we should regard the choice of the majority.

Kung alin man yung manalo, yes or no, we should respect the decision of the majority,” Sara Duterte ended.

It has been said that President Duterte's partners in Congress need to meet into a constituent gathering that would alter the Charter to prepare for an federal form of government, which President Duterte has since quite a while ago pushed.

In fact, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez wants the Constitution corrected and submitted to a plebiscite by May 2018, however Aquilino Pimentel III, Senate President, is taking a gander at the mid-term decisions in May 2019 as a more sensible timetable to present another Charter to an open vote.
