On President Duterte's Promise to bring Marawi Troops to Hong Kong: Mission Accomplished!

Fresh News: As promised, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte again treated another batch of government troops to a free trip to Hong Kong as a reward for freeing Marawi City.


The most recent cluster left in the last week of February for a two-night stay in Hong Kong as records from the Philippine Army's G1 or personnel department demonstrates.

Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Louie Villanueva told in an interview that the plane tickets, hotel accommodations and allowances are all free, and it was a promise made by the President.

Also as indicated by Lieutenant Villanueva, the first batch of the Marawi troops traveled in Japan while the second and third groups went to Hong Kong too.


He also pronounced that this special treat from the President will forever be in the soldiers' memories and just made their morale higher.


"Nakatatak na ito sa memory ng mga sundalo,” said Villanueva.


"Mataas ang morale ng mga sundalo,” he added.


An expected 150 troopers from various units made up the fourth batch of vacationers.

Among the individuals who joined the vacation was Lieutenant Colonel Jon Goyena, a seasoned armor battalion commander sent on Marawi's frontlines said that he was very glad with the trip and it's a regard to infer that it actually came from the President.




"I was happy to the point bursting and it's a respect to surmise that it originated from the President," Goyena said.

It can be recalled that in the fight to retake Marawi, the Philippine military propelled one of the bloodiest activities in recent history, that called for the lives of more than 1,000 government troops, Maute-ISIS fighters and civilians.


And amid President Duterte's visit to Marawi City at the stature of the administration hostile against Maute-ISIS terrorist, he as the commander-in-chief guaranteed that he would send his troops to the well known tourist destination once the battling was over.
