Fresh News: On March 18, 2018 at Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City, Philippines, Cadet First Class Jaywardene Hontoria got more awards than expected upon his graduation at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Ensign Jaywardene Hontoria who gets the Presidential Saber for graduating Number One in PMA's Alab Tala Class of 2018, yesterday, was given a free house and lot and wedded his girlfriend, Loura Fe Dillera, a registered nurse like him, all in one day.

Hontoria, who is from Pavia, Iloilo, outshined 281 of his "mistahs" or cohorts and furthermore brought home the Philippine Navy Saber Award, Chief of Staff Saber, Academic Group Award, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award, Spanish Armed Forces Award, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Department of Leadership Plaques and the Jusmag (Joint US Military Assistance Group) Award.

He likewise impacted the world and made history as the third 'baron' or class brigade commander of the PMA Cadet Corps in the historical backdrop of the institute to graduate as valedictorian.

It can be recalled that the last time a class had a 'baron' at the highest point of the class was 67 years back.

After all the honors were given on Hontoria, he also received a certificate of ownership of a house and lot from Camella Savannah in Iloilo City, where he should build a home with his wife.

The gift was given by the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, President Rodrigo Duterte, himself, who led the commencement exercises of the Alab Tala Class.

This was the first occasion that the PMA class valedictorian was given such a blessing.
