Sen. Sotto hits back at VP Robredo: "Why are they questioning it? Sila ba ang nakinabang?"

: Amid the alleged irregularities during the 2016 election that was revealed by Senator Vicente Sotto III, Vice President Leni Robredo said that it is beyond the bounds of possibility to have anomalies in the 2016 national polls.

On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, during an interview on the program Get It Straight with Daniel Razon, the Vice President gave her reaction to the privilege speech of Sen. Tito Sotto, where the latter asserted that there had been foreign access to Smartmatic servers and untimely transmission of election results in Libon, Albay before the election day, May 9, 2016.

Robredo pronounced that if there really was an election fraud, it should have surfaced already.

Ito paniwala ko, kung may dayaan noong eleksyon, lumabas na dapat,” the Vice President said.

Likewise when Robredo was asked if she thinks as to whether Sen, Sotto was somehow misguided, the V.P. said it maybe one of the those possibilities but it’s also a comprehensive generalization.

Hindi naman. Napakasweeping naman para sabihin ko ‘yon pero isa iyon sa mga possibilities.” Robredo then answered.

When the information came to Sen. Sotto's knowledge, the senator respond in retaliation and said that V.P. Robredo is not the subject of his criticisms.

The senator then expressed his bewilderment as to why VP Robredo is reacting and questioning his claim, where in fact, as per the Senator, he did not mention anyone or dragged anybody's name on the allegation so far.

He then additionally asked Robredo if she was the one who benefited from the allegation reason why she is affected and reacting.

My question now, itatanong ko sa kanya: bakit? Siya ba ang nakinabang doon? Why are they questioning it? Sila ba ang nakinabang? Wala naman akong binabanggit,” said the senator.

Sen. Sotto also announced that he has nothing to do with neither Marcos and Robredo nor with Tolentino and De Lima, but felt that he would be the best individual to demonstrate what he knows and what he has gotten from the Smartmatic itself.

I have nothing to show. I have nothing to do with Marcos and Robredo. I have nothing to do with Tolentino and De Lima, so he [source] thought that I would be the best person to show what he has and what he has gotten from the Smartmatic itself,” Sen. Sotto uttered.

Furthermore, the senator trusts that his source is credible and is prepared to face the probe of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms in April where in officials of Comelec and Smartmatic will likewise be called to the scheduled hearing.
