Trillanes in Davao, President Duterte's Hometown for Arraignment on Libel Case

On January 15, 2019, Tuesday morning, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, President Duterte's fiercest critic, touched base in Davao City, the latter's hometown, to attend the arraignment on the libel case documented against him by one of President's sons.

The libel charges originated from complaints filed by Paolo Duterte, President Duterte's son and former Davao city Vice Mayor, over Trillanes' accusations connecting him to the smuggling eaking of billions worth of shabu and alleged coercion on ride-sharing firm Uber and different firms.

The arraignment was set at 8:30 a.m. at the sala of Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 54 under Judge Melinda Alconcel-Dayanghirang.

The senator, a vocal detractor of the Duterte administration, prior posted P96,000 in bail under the watchful eye of Pasay Judge Rowena Nieves Tan, P24,000 for every four counts of libel set by Dayanghirang.

Senator Trillanes has prior been pronounced as persona non grata by the Davao City council in light of his remark that Davao City has the most noteworthy homicide rate and is the main most risky city in the Philippines, but is now in Davao to face the charges against him.
